This oak tree has shown up for about 2 years in the spring and summer in my natural area. I want to move it so that it will grow more rapidly, placing it in more sunlight. Are there any suggestions?

It's always risky to move a tree, but it's small enough that a one foot diameter root ball should be adequate to get enough undisturbed roots that the tree can recover in its new location. The deeper you can dig before cutting the main root, the better.

imagine that you are trying to dig and wide as it is tall. feed the hole you are putting it into with plenty of good compost.
good luck. i am thinking of doing the same with one of mine. they are spectacular trees when mature.
